- Delineated as a solid structure encompassing the entire al cal as a sold structure. Usual length = 2.5 - 3 cm.
Anatomical Boundaries
- Cranial
- At the level where the rectum ends. Typically delineated at the level where the rectum has a rrowing followed by a backward bend. At this level the rectal ampulla is rrowed by the puborectalis sling (the levator ani) muscle.
- Caudal
- Where the al verge is located. Typically visible as the end of the mucosal lining around the al verge.
- Medial
- Outer wall of the al cal
- Lateral
- Outer wall of the al cal
- Ventral
- Outer wall of the al cal
- Dorsal
- Outer wall of the al cal
